“I was looking at ways to do a gap year in another country and remembered a former teacher of mentioning the possibility of an au pair program. I thought it would be a great way to visit one of my dream countries and getting to know new people, getting a connection to Canada and learning English so I could get more fluent and more confident in speaking it. I also see it as a personal challenge to go live with another family in a country on the other side of the world. Also during the last few months I found out that I generally enjoy working with children and would like to see how the school system in Canada works compared to ours.”
