“Becoming an au pair was mainly influenced by two people. My mother spent a year in the US as an au pair in the late 80s and is still enthusiastic about all the experiences she gained during that time. When I was a baby, the host family even visited us in Germany. A friend of mine had similar experiences. She stayed with a family in Canada a year ago. As I am interested in working with children, I chose the specialization of educational sciences at school, which is why I would like to work with kids. I am also very interested in other countries, cultures, and the way people live in these regions. I hope that living with a host family will give me a good insight into Canadian life and improve my English skills.”
